True, but the MTA does not need to run on the same system as the MUA (email client). <snip> > I can't think of any reason I would ever need to send > any mail from one of my VM guest to the world outside of our > firewall -- I would always be able to forward it from my > Exchange email -- so any small, efficient, easy to set up MTA > should do the trick. > Any suggestions? Configure the Linux email client to connect to port 25 on the Exchange server's IP address (or hostname, if you are set up to do that). We do emails from batch jobs on z/OS. We have a free software called XMITIP which knows the protocol and it just connects to port 25 on our MS Exchange box. I don't see any reason why this would not work with your Linux MTA. > > > Thanks, > Jon What software are you using to send the email? If you are sending it to a mailbox on your company's Exchange server, why not just send it directly? That is, connect to port 25 on your Exchange server's IP address and then just send it. -- John McKown Senior Systems Programmer HealthMarkets Keeping the Promise of Affordable Coverage Administrative Services Group Information Technology This message (including any attachments) contains confidential information intended for a specific individual and purpose, and its content is protected by law.
