I guess that they don't have a problem with doing this, it is work
related. They just don't want personal email clogging up their bandwidth
or I guess people checking personal email from work (especially as we
work in a sensitive customer location.

If your company lawyers have instigated such a stringent "lock-down" on
email, I wonder if they would approve of your use of company email on a
public mailing list?
