Apache is at version 2.0.49
libapr is at: 2.049
The installed components of glibc:

There were no configuration file changes in /etc/apache2 prior to November 11 -
November 11th of LAST YEAR. So there's nothing changed with this from
the configuration files. That's the first thing I checked.

I've backed up the /etc/apache2 dir, and uninstalled Apache via YaST and when
it was done there was still an /etc/apache2 dir. So we deleted that
directory completly and re-installed Apache2 and the problem persists.

I just have no idea what could be generatiing the messages:

[error] (38)Function not implemented: Cannot create SSLMutex
Configuration Failed

I am really at a loss to even identify what SSLMutex is apart from findind
references to it for Apache 1.3, and that someone had a solved this message
on intel by changing the MPM module from the 'Worker' one to the 'Prefork' one.
I tried this also, no joy.

Other reports of this message have a path mentioned. The message I have simply
says "Cannot create SSLMutex" but examples I've found on-line show
things like "Cannot create SSLMutex file `/var/log/httpd/ssl_mutex.575' "

I am going to force a re-install of libapr at the current level and see if that
does anything.

There are also indications that libapr, or glibc may be at fault. What
specific versions are apache and those packages at?

Subject: Strangeness with Apache2

Greetings.

We have an internal department that has one of the virtual penguins on
our z/box using Apache2. For all of our other servers (Websphere anyway)
We use
the IBMIHS server there.

In any case, I have not messed with the Apache configuration and nobody
else with access has admitted to it. The only recent change was a 50
meg
reduction in memory allocated to the z/VM guest.

The message Apache2 is throwing when it fails to start is:

[error] (38)Function not implemented: Cannot create SSLMutex
Configuration Failed

I've looked at thinks like the prefork thread handler. Enabling that
didn't help. Some other threads for intel indicate 2.52 is the release
of apache
we need, but I am not sure that applies.

Anyone got any ideas about this error?

Thanks!
