Right now, the exact same distribution process occurs for every platform
they support. S390x is the only one that would need this "helper"
situation.

Except that by that point, you probably have already gone through the
pain of installing it.

OK. The response from the people I spoke to at Novell release
engineering was also positive (they apparently are getting overwhelmed
with install problems too), so let me see what I can come up with.
