It't eggs actly how I set up my (Sempron) system recently. _I_ did it
manually. It was very interesting.


To boot from LVM, your bootloader needs to understand how to read the
kernel and initial ramdisk from the LVM. Then, the contents of the
kernel and initial ramdisk take over, and those have to comprehend LVM
too, but that's just a matter of your vendor (or you) including the
right modules and commands. If you're not doing it manually, it all
"just happens" when you do the initial install.
