For 4.4, it should look something like this (my input is prefixed with -->). Also note there's no spacing in any of the input:
Which kind of network device do you intend to use (e.g. ctc, iucv, qeth, lcs). Enter 'qeth' for OSA-Express Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet (including 1000Base-T), High Speed Token Ring, and ATM (running Ethernet LAN emulation) features in QDIO mode. Enter 'lcs' for OSA2 Ethernet/Token Ring, OSA-Express Fast Ethernet in non-QDIO mode, OSA-Express High Speed Token Ring in non-QDIO mode and Gigabit Ethernet in non-QDIO mode. --> qeth Enter the bus ID and the device number of your CCW devices. CTC/ESCON and LCS need two subchannels: (e.g. "0.0.0600,0.0.0601" will configure the CTC or ESCON interface with the subchannels 0x600 and 0x601) QETH needs three subchannels p.e. 0.0.0300,0.0.0301,0.0.0302 --> 0.0.0e38,0.0.0e39,0.0.0e3a Portname of the OSA-Express feature in QDIO mode and z/VM Guest LAN This parameter is optional with z/VM 4.4.0 or z/VM 4.3.0 with APARs VM63308 and PQ73878 Press enter if you don't want to enter a portname --> CHIP00 [snip] Also, it's a shot in the dark, but are you sure that device 0e3a is accessible and connected? In our z9, only the first 10 (virtual) devices of each OSA chpid are usable in each LPAR (i.e. 0e30 - 0e39). Can you attempt with a different triplet? -Brad On Thu, 2007-04-05 at 19:40 -0500, Kelly F.
