Static addresses assigned via DHCP. There are a number of nice ones available on sourceforge (some handle both DNS and DHCP): http://sourceforge.net/projects/dixie/ http://sourceforge.net/projects/webdhcp/ and many others. One you may be particularly interested in is netreg (which forces registration of any new server with the DHCP service and assigns each new MAC a permanent address entry as well as providing a nicely searchable SQL database of same). http://sourceforge.net/projects/netreg/ Very handy for figuring out what happened in a network trace. -- db ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
