If you want to be able to punch things from CMS users to Linux, or
from Linux to CMS users, it's very useful.

Our SMTP replacement used it to allow users to submit outgoing mail
(in BSMTP format) to the SMTP server, and receive inbound mail via
SMTP (that is, we'd translate to BSMTP and then punch it to the user
spool).
