Can you let me know what is your /etc/zipl.conf ? And also let me know if
you are using a CMS formatted disk. If it is a CMS formatted disk then you
can not put swap to it. and also give me the output for lsdasd. It would
help me in debugging.

We are implementiong RedHat ES update 4, on a z9 on z/VM 5.2.  We are
attempting to use VDISK for additional swap space without using SWAPGEN.
I have followed the recommendation found from velocity-software.com.  I
add Linux boot parameter.  I am unable run the mkswap /dev/dasdx.  After
IPL, I don't see any reference to the specified device.  Any help would
be greatly appreciated.
