I just took a look at that page.  It's about 2.5 years old, and out of date.  
It wasn't saying to specify "disk=" it was saying "mdisk=" because they were 
talking about the minidisk driver, which doesn't exist any more.  I'll contact 
some people at Velocity about updating or taking down the page.
