Since with z/VM 5.3 a guest can now access the HMC ASCII terminal...we
wanted to test the ability to use the HMC ASCII terminal to edit a file
using vi.

We found several documents discussing this, but had what appeared to be
conflicting values in the /etc/inittab, and weren't sure which to use. It
could be that either would work.

However, as you pointed out, your guests use "mingetty" and "dumb", and as
we already have an entry for that in our /etc/inittab we should be okay as
is.

Thanks for your help...

Why? What are you trying to accomplish?

My guests have this:
1:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty --noclear /dev/ttyS0 dumb=20
