I can't help you with Nagios, but if you want to try a replacement, look for Rich Smrcina for a copy of the Hobbit code for SLES on zSeries, or get a copy of the x86 code for a server and get a copy of the client code for SLES on zSeries. Hobbit is an follow-on to BigBrother and one of its features is a trending (thanks to RRDTOOL) of CPU time (SYS,USER,WAIT).
BTW, Rich Smrcina also has a very good z/VM client for Hobbit too. /Tom Kern /301-903-2211 --------------Original Message--------------- From: James Melin <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subject: How to translate Load Average to meaningful management numbers I just tossed up a Nagios monitoring thing for a bunch of SLES-10 machines. Still very vanilla. One of the checks I have defined is 'check_load' which displays load data similarly to what is found in 'top'. Unfortunately, that means NOTHING to my boss, who likes to see %CPU busy. What is the best explanation of load average I can give my boss. Also has anyone seen a decent check_cpu widget for Nagios? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- For LINUX-390 subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: INFO LINUX-390 or visit http://www.marist.edu/htbin/wlvindex?LINUX-390
