Not exactly.  They seem to be stored in the filesystem (and I think this is 
documented in one of the ZFS references).

If you have a security product like TopSecret then you can set ACLs with 
setfacl, and list them with getfacl, however they don't actually do anything.  
I tested this to make sure.

You sure about that?  As I understand it, ACLs are a "RACF (security
product) artifact", not a "file permission".
