Hello Mark, I wouldn't exactly say it is a waste of time on my part. The only linux commands I know is ls! I never really know what I'm going to be working on from day to day and I wanted to get my feet wet before starting a free trial. We just recently (Feb 2008) got a z9 that has an IFL in it. We are kinda short on memory and OSA cards and I know we will need z/VM if we start getting serious wanting to run several images.
Linux may be what keeps the lights shining here a year or so down the road (z/OS now). I am pretty excited to see what this can do for us. I'm sure we'll look at current/supported Redhat later on. BTW, this is my second day on the list - I see several names from IBM-MAIN. This looks like another good list...
