There are two issues with Ned. One is that no major distro configures the console as 3270 by default; it's 3215 (which makes sense, given what Linux natively likes to speak). So then you have to make sure the tube driver is loaded and make sure that Linux uses it as the console and, well, it all gets irritatingly complex. The other is that it's not redistributable. Well, and there might be a third: it may no longer exist.
