We have been naming all of our Linux volumes LNX* and decided that was a bit naïve. It seemed simple enough to FDR the 5 volumes labeled LNX0* associated with one server to 5 volumes labeled FAW0*, change the VM directory and use the new volumes.
It appears to work but during the boot I see: dasd(eckd): 0.0.0201: 3390/0A(CU:3990/01) Cyl:3338 Head:15 Sec:224 dasd(eckd): 0.0.0201: (4kB blks): 2403360kB at 48kB/trk compatible disk layout dasdb:VOL1/ LNX018: dasdb1 dasd(eckd): 0.0.0202: 3390/0A(CU:3990/01) Cyl:3338 Head:15 Sec:224 dasd(eckd): 0.0.0202: (4kB blks): 2403360kB at 48kB/trk compatible disk layout dasdc:VOL1/ LNX019: dasdc1 etc. I also find: /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX017-part1 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX021-part1 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX019-part1 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX018-part1 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX017-part2 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX020-part1 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX018 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX020 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX019 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX017 /dev/disk/by-id/ccw-LNX021 So what's going on here? How can I be sure I'm using the FAW* volumes and what is the implication of these files with the old volsers?
