As many here know, those were not the best releases on which to build Very Large Deployments. They have been encouraged to reevaluate a newer z/VM, but once you've sunk the initial expense to build an infrastructure and process to handle so many LPARs and machines and are happy with the results, it is indeed difficult to justify a change. Perhaps their infrastructure, financial and personnel constraints did not match that of a typical company (whatever THAT is). "Don't spare the horses."
