We are moving our WebSphere applications from servers and z/Series to
z/Linux mainly for
cost saving measures. It also allows us to be able to put future
applications on z/Linux on
a z9 mainframe rather than increasing our server farm.

We are still in the development stage and working out the Linux
utilities that we will use.

Subject: Z/linux utilities to equivalent Z/os utilities

Hi, we are a Z/os shop and are looking at z/linux, but are not to sure
what we can do with Z/linux?

My question is; what are Z/series users using linux for, and what linux
utilities are there that are equivalent their Z/os counterparts?

Ie, Omegamon = what linux thing

Backup and restore = Bacula or Amanda

(what are the popular cogs in the z/linux wheel?)

Regards
