Hi,

Your MTU is very big... Ethernet should be working with 1492.
The minute you leave the MF with a big packet (larger then ~2000) the
physical switch/router will not be able to handle your request.
That is why a normal ping (very small) will finish ok and a big size ping
will fail.
moving the linux to a different vlan causes the packets to leave the MF to
your default GW.
While you stay in the same vswitch there is no problem because the vswitch
is able to handle those big requests.
reduce the MTU to 1492 and i believe all your problems will go away.
