We do, one lpar with z/VM 5.4 and SLES10SP2 in each z10-box
in separate computerhalls.
The disks are shared from the disk system, that is the trick here.
We use it for install CD1 and 2 (SLES10) and for WAS70
both disks are owned by a never booting zVM user and linked to in
readonly mode.
The user must exists in both z/VM systems and they point to the same
disks devices. So you can not boot this user, in our case it has no disks
besides these ones, so it is not even possible to login.
Works great also across ip subnets and diff. sec. zones.

Subject: How to share files/disk between 2 LPARS

Hi List,
We are working on a HA solution and we have a need to share files/disks between
2 guests on different lpars. I know that can be done with guests on the same
lpar but is it possible across lpars ?
We are running VM 5.4 and SLES10-SP2.
I welcome any ideas and suggestions.
TIA
Bernie Wu
