You might issue a 'sync' command after going into single user mode... I still don't think a copy of a live system can ever assure you 100% that it will come up -- but I guess you're doing the next best thing if you must stay live. Any reason you don't just take them all the way down and do the flashcopy? Why stop at single user -- it's as good as down anyway..
