I'm trying to setup a new virtual interface on a running server. I did: vmcp def nic 808 qdio devices 3 vmcp couple 808 to system vsw2
and it seems to have worked: vmcp q nic Adapter 0800.P00 Type: QDIO Name: UNASSIGNED Devices: 3 MAC: 02-00-00-00-00-07 VSWITCH: SYSTEM VSW2 Adapter 0804.P00 Type: QDIO Name: UNASSIGNED Devices: 3 MAC: 02-00-00-00-00-06 VSWITCH: SYSTEM VSW2 Adapter 0808.P00 Type: QDIO Name: UNASSIGNED Devices: 3 MAC: 02-00-00-00-00-02 VSWITCH: SYSTEM VSW2 built an ifcfg-eth2 DEVICE=eth2 BOOTPROTO=static IPADDR=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx NETMASK=255.255.254.0 NETTYPE=qeth ONBOOT=yes VSWITCH=1 OPTIONS='layer2=1' PORTNAME=UNASSIGNED SUBCHANNELS=0.0.0808,0.0.0809,0.0.080A But when I try to bring it up it fails: ifup eth2 Device eth2 does not seem to be present, delaying initialization. Anybody suggest what I've missed?
