Well you could have the Linux check a named cms file at predefined times (cron)
for some type of action.
The best would be to issue some kind of signal, like ctlr-alt-delete, that 
triggers a linux driver.
That is in the pipeline  (more or less ??)  I hope.

Unless you want/need to trigger some action on Linux from CMS and don't have a 
SSH client, in which case, you don't have much choice.
