Fine, agetty is a good choice anyway. One more question, did you enable the hvc0 as linux console, i.e., adding a console=hvc0 to the kernel command line? (It would be great if you could include the output of the /proc/cmdline). If you use it as a console, does the problem also occur on other hvc devices, for example, lnxhvc1?
