Thanks for the strace suggestion. We have quite a few "irons in the fire"
right now, so rather than trying to learn enough about strace, interpreting the
results, etc., we decided to download the "latest and greatest" SDK from IBM,
and try that.
Well, my colleague reports that the IBM Java 7.0 SR4 SDK did the trick. So,
hopefully, we'll complete the ISV product installation and IVP tomorrow, and
"hand it off" to the requesters. Fingers crossed; this is our first-ever
attempt at running a "real application" in Linux on z/VM.
