The tried-and-true approach to migration is to change as few things as
possible.
1. Put z/VM 5.4, with enabling PTFs, on your z114
2. Apply any z114-related patches to Linux
3. Move them to the z114.
4. Validate
5. Upgrade z114 to z/VM 6.2
6. Validate

That depends on why it won't run. z/VM does not protect a guest from the
new processor architecture, but it *will* limit the guest to a single
channel subsystem. Of course, even if it ran it wouldn't be supported.

With service, yes. See http://www.vm.ibm.com/zvm540/ for links to
required service for zEC12, z196/z114, and for Crypto Express3 and FICON
Express.
