We use the "XAUTOLOG RACFSMF #RACFVM" every day to switch around the RACF SMF
data files and prepare the data to be FTPed to z/OS. RACFSMF will startup do
its thing and then logoff.
Sample of messages on OPERATOR console

Alter the RACFSMF PROFILE EXEC to add Trace I if watching the startup
doesn't give you enough clues. (I'm not sure what RACFSMF is 'supposed' to
be doing myself offhand)
