That's what I pointed out in my last reply. You cannot change the time on a running VM system. Your only option is to re IPL VM.

That's progress. But because of whatever we did when we IPL'd ZVM, the ZVM time is still off by an hour. Short of IPLing again, how can I correct whatever is off in ZVM? ZVM - before changing anything query time TIME IS 07:26:23 CDT MONDAY 11/04/13 <-- Correct time, wrong zone. We just started standard time, not daylight savings time.. -----Original Message----- From: Linux on 390 Port [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Veencamp, Jonathon D. Sent: Monday, November 04, 2013 8:12 AM To: [email protected] Subject: Daylight savings time issue Good morning list, Does anyone have any quick advice? We are in Minnesota and have just switched to Daylight Savings. Someone IPL'd ZVM differently yesterday than on past IPL's. (TOD clock question answered yes). Now we are seeing the correct time in CMS in zVM (I think) but Linux is not showing daylight savings. ZVM query timezone Zone Direction Offset Status UTC ---- 00.00.00 Inactive GMT ---- 00.00.00 Inactive EDT West 04.00.00 Inactive EST West 05.00.00 Inactive CDT West 05.00.00 Active CST West 06.00.00 Inactive MDT West 06.00.00 Inactive MST West 07.00.00 Inactive PDT West 07.00.00 Inactive PST West 08.00.00 Inactive Ready; T=0.01/0.01 07:05:22 <-- This is correct. zLinux # date Mon Nov 4 06:05:35 CST 2013 <-- So CST is the issue. I verified that /etc/timezone is set to the same as /usr/share/zoneinfo/America/Chicago. Our TZ environmental variable is not set. Any advice?
