I think it's really going to come down to how the array presents itself to the world. Based on their literature, it seems to be a SAN device that supports SCSI over FC, and iSCSI access. If they did things right, then access over a SAN fabric should "just work" with Linux. With z/VM, I have too little experience with things in this area, so I can't comment there. IBM may require having this array behind a SAN Volume Controller (SVC), but only IBM can make any real statements there. It will be interesting to see how these things work with Linux on z Systems. It would also be interesting to see how the costs and capabilities of something like this compare to a "roll your own" solution with something like SUSE Storage.
