We have tested with EDEVICES as well as with SCSI over FCP, and while it's not 
in the support matrix at this time (so an RPQ is required), XtremIO can be used 
as an EDEVICE, and from the Linux guest as point-to-point or via a SAN works as 
well. SVC is not required.

For EDEVICE use, z/VM supports direct point-to-point or SAN attachment to 
DS8000, XIV, Storwize V700, and IBM Flashsystems only.  All other SCSI devices 
for EDEVICE use must be attached via SAN Volume Controller (SVC).

These restrictions do not apply to non-EDEVICE use by Linux.
