there is a lot of documentation on the developerworks website:

The "Device Drivers, Features, and Commands" document is available for
"Development upstream", SUSE, Red Hat and Ubuntu.
Within this document there are also the differences covered between a
LPAR and a z/VM environment if they exist for the different topics.
