Looks almost like a PC/104 form-facter board that is used in robotics and
wearable computing.  No PC/104 connectors, though,

There is a page, http://www.erols.com/rld/, where the author has a boot code
system that boots Minix from a Flash card on an HP 200LX-- the same concept as
what you're trying to do.  There's no source available, but maybe you could
entice the author to giving you a peek.
