I don't know much about GEM, having only used it a bit on the Amstrad
1640 many years ago. I have used X more recently but know next to nothing
about its internals. What I want to know is how closely "tied together"
is GEM ie. could we (relatively easily) rewrite GEM to use X (or a cut
down version of it) for its display.
Also, a similar debate has been going on in the fd-gui mailing
list,which is aimed at creating a GUI for freedos (www.freedos.org). I
think that people on both lists could benefit from co-operation.
