Actually, I have seen people who are computer literate fight to get windows
to do trivial tasks as well. Most common causes are proprietary 'locks' on
things as well as windows trying to do things automatically and it messes things
up. I tried to help them. They often give up saying it's too hard. They never
complain about windows b/c they don't know of a choice. I tsk saying, "this
would be easier in linux." they say, "shut up." Anyway, even if they get things
working, they never learn anything. It's all by blind trial and error.
This is what gui caters to. Even when you learn it is only conditional
knowledge. And it's very inefficient.
If you drive enough you either: pay, learn something, or be babied by people
who do know something. Why it could possible be diff w/ a computer, I don't
know. This is coming from a mac user who went on to learn linux. Let me
tell you, the easiest way to make something 'easy to use' is to cut down
on the number of things that are possible. That's what apple does (did,
I never saw os x).
