PDF is a document format, not an application. The format is open, meaning
anyone can write PDF plugins or PDF readers. Or at least, this is probably
what the poster meant. I have no real clue about wheather PDF is open or
not.
But compare it to Postscript, another Adobe format, that isn't open, and
Apple choose not to use it since the license was to expensive.

No, it's a republic! The term "representative democracy" is purely
to satisfy those who cannot grasp that the USA is a republic and who
remain committed to believing that the USA is a democracy. It's
simply a term to satisfy the ignorant.
Nowhere in the US Constitution can the word "democracy" be found,
must less the term "representative democracy."
The biggest abusers of the term democracy, embarrassingly and
unfortunately, are US politicans.

The USA is NOT a democracy much less a true democracy! Our founding
fathers steered very clear of a democracy system and for good reason.

Try again - that was a link to a pdf file for downloading NOT a link to a

The page itself (not the downloaded file) was NOT created as a PDF file.

Both the democrats and republicans supported by large corps. the
election system has been setup so that only these two parties can get
into parliament. Also, the situation isn't helped by the poor voter turn
out.

So, what you are saying is that the US doesnot have a democratically
elected government? Even though the government preaches those ideals to
other countries, such as those in the Bulkins.

So, in theory, it is very similar to how the Russian Federation is

But anonymous posting to usenet is not likely to prevent identity theft.
It's more likely that the minimum-wage employee at the restaurant you
ate at last night is selling your info.
I would also imagine that Newsfeeds will turn you over pretty quickly if
given the right motivation. Try using this "anonymous" server to post
death threats against George Bush. There will be a knock at your door
pretty quickly. :-)
I don't have any problem with people posting anonymously, but I'm not
likely to answer them in c.o.l.a. I don't feel this is an appropriate
place for anonymity. There is enough trouble with trolls that have
multiple personalities without the multi-headed anonymous monster adding
to the fun. How do you tell who's who? :-)
