I never tried minlabel. Will check it out, Thanx!
The promlem actually was solved in a different manner; It appears
FreeBSD puts a DOS partition header at the front of the disk, even if
oyu tell it to dedicate the whole disk to BSD partitions. It does it
only on the i386. That makes FreeBSD i386 and FreeBSD Alpha
incompatible at the media level. I know.
My mistake was not knowing that and setting up disks on an i386 box for
consumption on an Alpha.
