Windows can allow the same file to be opened by more than one program. What
Microsoft will not allow is to have more than one copy of an "Office"
document open at once. The file system and operating system are not where
the problem is with the issue of opening more than one copy of the same
file.
I might suggest that you print out any source headers (prototyping) and keep
that at hand for referencing. Also "view" is vi in read only mode, that is
an option I would do to prevent accidental saves of the view only copy. It
would bite to have spent a couple hours bending your code only to exit vi
incorrectly from the viewed version.
