linux on a 2.5

I am trying to install redhat linux 5.0 to my 2.5 gig western digital hdd.
It will install just fine but when i try and boot to it when it boots up
it says just LI instead of LILO.  My drive is in LBA mode and i think
that may be the problem but i am not sure.  I dont even know if i can get
it to boot in normal mode because it is a 2.5 gig drive.  I have an eide
card that will reconize the card but it will always put it in LBA mode.
Any help would be much appreciated.
