Hi,
I hope this doesn't turn out to be another redhat vs slackware thread :).
But, you can find files similar to /etc/rc.d/rc.init1, etc in /etc/rc.d. Redhat's
init style is different from Slackware but you should be able to pick it up very
easily.
Redhat uses rpm for package management. The closest you'll get to pkgtool is
probably glint, an X gui to rpm.
