First of all, i recommend you to buy a newer version of Linux. I've a
machine like yours (the only diference is the video card) and I didn't have
problems installing Linux (RH 5.2). Everything works well right after the
installation.

The XFree86 3.3.3.2 has support for the 3dfx video card. I saw some
X-servers that support it over the net also.
