I am running linux PPC (1999) and have got pppd to work perfectly manually. My ISP
uses PAP - for what it's worth I've got pppd to work with a login script too.
However, diald refuses to go - I have spent a week trawling through HOWTO's, books and
'man' pages to try and figure it out - to no avail.
Diald dials when required and starts the pppd process. However, I never get the:
Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
and diald times out forcing pppd to quit. My chat script issues just 2 commands to
the terminal adapter - one to initialise it (AT&F) and the other to dial. I would
guess that either diald is broken with my version of linux or that it somehow swallows
characters before pppd gets going.
Suggestions for sorting the problem out would be most gratefully received!
