What architecture are you on, Fred - Intel? Sparc?
I've got _exactly_ this problem with 0.99.1 on Sparc 2.0.25.
I put 'debug 8' in the diald config, and the it hasn't stopped working
since.
Oh well.
I'll report back to the list when it stops.
