Hi Lazarus,
Here are two files for the test you mentioned at the bottom of this Email.
The "console.txt" is the console session in which I entered all the commands. The
"syslog.txt" is the message log.
I have made the following changes to the system:
- changed /dev/modem to /dev/ttyS0 in the diald configuration (but left the manual
connect script unchanged - hence it still uses /dev/modem)
- upgraded to pppd 2.3.8 - the latest version I could find for linuxPPC.
I'm not so sure about upgrading the kernel - I'm not brave enough for that yet!
I looked for the ifcfg-ppp0 file and it does not exist. I have:
/etc/ppp/options
/etc/ppp/ip-up
/etc/ppp/ip-down
/etc/ppp/pap-secrets
/etc/ppp/chap-secrets
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifdown-ppp
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifup-ppp
There is an ifcfg-tap0 file and one for slip. I haven't checked for /sbin/ifup or
/sbin/ifdown.
I hope this sheds some real light on the problem.
Regards,
Iain
