I also use diald with IP masquerading in an office where several LAN PCs
access the Internet using the Linux diald machine that acts as a gateway.

So far I haven't seen here the problem you mention with Windows clients.

But I have another one:

My diald setup basically works, but everytime diald is triggered by a client
Internet access request, the first packets sent (buffered by diald before
the physical PPP lin is up) get lost.

So the following happens:

- Client requests http://www.somewhere.com
- diald brings up the link
- Some seconds after the link is up, client browser issues an error message
"Could not connect.."
- Then, if the client issues the request again, if works.

I have tried all possible setups I could think of, but found no way to
prevent the first packets to get lost, and I really would like to get the
connection to work including the first requests...
I tried to follow the indications in the diald manpage and README.masq, with
no success.
Any hint or help would be greatly appreciated.

My config is the following:
- Standard PSTN Modem connection to an ISP that gives dynamic local and
remote IP addresses (usually different at each connection).

- My Linux box runs named and squid (even when not using Squid, the problem
appears the same).

TIA for any help.
