You'll need to provide more details to get any real help, but here's
one troubleshooting tip that worked for me:

I had a situation where a standard ppp connected created via RedHat's
control-panel would work, but diald would not.  I temporarily
replaced my pppd binary with a shell script that basically said:

echo $* >> /tmp/ppp-arguments

This allowed me to see exactly how pppd was being called in both
cases & determine what was different.
