This probably shouldn't be "/etc/diald/diald.conf". The fifo is what
diald uses for communications.

Hmmm. It seems that it did connect okay. Try changing the diald
fifo and see if that changes any of the behaviour. The one on
my system used "/var/run/diald.fifo"
