I had something sort of similar at home with OpenLinux 2.3, where every time
I booted up, it started two diald daemons. Bugged the crap out of me cuz it
worked fine when started manually. I had it being started from rc.local,
which did (and still does) run twice on boot up (there's just nothing in it
anymore). Can't figure that one out, then again, I haven't checked out
Caldera's website or newsgroups yet. After setting it up properly using the
rc[0-6].d directories etc., it loads properly...and only once. In any
event, could a similar mis-setup cause that sort of problem you're
describing...maybe...I don't know, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
