alias net-pf-5 off
alias char-major-108 ppp
alias ppp-compress-21 bsd_comp
alias ppp-compress-24 ppp_deflate
alias ppp-compress-26 ppp_deflate

put this in your /etc/conf.modules (slakware)

the first 2 are for ipx and appletalk I think ??
just make sure that you have bsd_comp as a module and modprobe it in your rc
files
