Shit hardware will break anything, no matter how good the code might be.
You get what you pay for. :)

For me, I've been very happy with Intel network chips. Realtek, well,
they're bottom if the barrel and break if you look at them the wrong way.

So consider what I said with the assumption that your gear is good quality.
