Well, first of all, Bob's code is in QuickBasic, not C. I've seen parts
of it, it is not clean code. It would take you twice as long to figure it
out as to start from scratch. Second, the hard part of an APRS program is
in the user interface code, which is completely different in X than in
VGA direct QB. So his source code wouldn't help you much, if at all.
But tell me, when you go to the store, and they make you pay $6.00 a
pound for steak, do you start whining that it isn't free? Do you complain
that they won't let you in the back to cut it yourself? Just like the
butcher, Bob has every right to sell his wares.
You wanna be a butcher, go out and learn how to cut meat. You wanna be a
programmer, go out and learn how to program. It took me a couple months
to get javAPRS to the point of being functional. If you want a free Linux
version, stop whining about others and do something yourself.
Or maybe you don't need to. I got an email about an X version in
progress. Go whine at this guy to make his program available:
